“You Looking to Catch Something:” Stiles Top 10 Lines from Teen Wolf (Rewind!)

Editor’s note: this is an oldie but a goodie. In honor of Halloween, we are rerunning it for your reading pleasure… Loyal readers of It Goes to 11 know that we heart 1985’s Teen Wolf here at FIC. The implausible story, the inspired comedic performances, the side-splitting dialogue, the feel-good conclusion — this fine flick has it all in spades. Michael J. Fox is certainly the star of the film, but in many ways Jerry Levine’s Stiles character (pictured below) steals the show with his self-assured preening, cocky chutzpah, entrepreneurial spirit, and rich, fantastically colored wardrobe. (Shameless reminder: we sell two of his attention-grabbing tees here and here.) For a...

Gimme Shell-ter: 10 Turtle Tees

Gimme Shell-ter: 10 Turtle Tees

Last week it was sharks, this week it’s… turtles! Some of these designs are clever; some of them are not. We’ll let you decide which is which. As always, click on the pics to link through. 1. Awwww shucks. This is like sickeningly cute… So adorable it merits demands a closer inspection: 2. Huh? WTF? OMG! 3. By contrast, this is a real crowd-pleaser with a message we can all support. Bonus points for the creative interplay of message and glow-in-dark, screen-printing tech. Demystified for the lay people out there: 4. Curious and deadly is always a combustible combination. That aside, I really...

Block Party: Seven Puzzling Rubix Cube-Themed Tee Shirts

Much as with movies, television programs and video games of the era, popular toys from the 80’s are providing today’s t-shirt designers (and moviemakers) with fodder for the creative process. In particular, the Rubik Cube — which has sold more than 350 million units since its creation by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Emo Rubik in 1974, making it the top-selling puzzle time-suck of all time — has emerged as a go-to motif for numerous graphic artists of a geeky or obsessive bent. Below, I’ve compiled a list of 5 7 smart shirts that feature or riff on the venerable 80’s icon in one fashion...

6 Wicked-Pissah Shirts For The Discriminating Boston Sports Fans

6 Wicked-Pissah Shirts For The Discriminating Boston Sports Fans

Sunday was a great day for Boston sports fans. The Bruins, trailing 3 games to 1 in their series with the upstart Carolina Hurricanes, put together a dominating 4-0 victory to extend their season and force a Game 6. Playing on the road, the depleted Celtics (No Garnett, no Powe), eked out a much needed “W” over the Orlando Magic, courtesy of a gutsy, last-second buzzer beater from the human bowling ball, Glen “Big Baby” Davis (see vid embedded below). That evened their playoff series at two games apiece, with the pivotal Game 5 set for Tuesday night in Beantown....

New Shirt from Real Genius!

New Shirt from Real Genius!

As some of you reading this are most likely aware, Found Item Clothing was accidentally inspired by a late-night screening of the 80’s cult classic, Real Genius. Chris Knight, the film’s rakish and eccentric lead (portrayed by a young Val Kilmer), exhibits some real sartorial flair; every one of his assorted tees is offbeat and sui generis, a perfect distillation of his character’s personality, quirks and all. In any case, the initial success of two shirts from that flick — I Heart Toxic Waste and Surf Nicaragua — yielded two more — International Order For Gorillas and Summer Games 1984. 50 shirts (give or take a few) and three...
