Me So Hungry: A Smorgasbord of 200 Tasty Tees
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010Last month, Andy at Hide Your Arms stuffed himself silly on yet another epic list of two hundred t-shirts, this one grouped around a delicious, food-and-drink motif.
Personally, my fave remains the so-called Ampersandwich design (which, coincidentally, did not make an appearance on our Top 20 Tees from 2009, but clearly should have) or number 5 for those keeping score at home (I don’t think the digits necessarily correspond to an absolute ranking, btw). I’d be remiss if I failed to note that Mr. Bowness was kind enough to garnish his post with ingredients from the drool-inducing Found Item catalog:

As always, kudos to Andy for the kind words…

In War, The First Casual-tee Is Truth…
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010…or, in this case, cotton.
To wit, check out this clever, nay inspired, stop-motion vid that details a back-and-forth t-shirt battle, as chronicled via morphing designs (semiotic brinkmanship, anyone?).
Apparently (and not surprisingly, I suppose), all of the tees worn in this clip internet meme du jour have been sold, but replicas can be purchased right here. My personal fave here would be the broken eggs…

The Commissar of Cold Cuts
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009Between Bunk, Laurelhurst Market, and Meat & Cheese & Bread, 2009 was the year of the artisan sandwich shop here in Portland, Oregon. And at the vanguard of said movement was The People’s Sandwich of Portland, which opened its doors in downtown PDX during the dog days of summer.
As you may have gleaned from their socialistic moniker, the PSOP incorporates a degree of tongue-in-cheek (pun intended), Soviet-inspired iconography into their branding marketing (both online and real world). Including this newly designed tee shirt, which, by power of association, is making me hungry.
Let’s just say that I like the interplay of the food, fist and sickle (and the lack of any identifying text). The implication here is simple: sandwiches are hearty fare for hard-working folks. At their best, they are utilitarian, hand-crafted, nutritious, and dare I say it, even democratic (blasphemy, I know…), that is, they appeal to people of all ages, creeds, and backgrounds. Good sandwiches, of course (as these are).
In any case, if you live nearby, I’d encourage you to pay a visit to the PSOP. The selection rotates between deli classics and seasonal titles, some hot, some cold. In a word: yum. (They are easy on the wallet, as well.)
Attentive readers might recall that I posted a tasty top in this space previously.

Holidazed and Confused: Notes on XMas Shopping
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009Hey kids.
The Holidays are fast approaching, and with them come occasionally awkward gift exchanges (“Oh, a decorative fruit basket. How apropos…”). Don’t fret though; we have you covered with a range of clever and creative gift possibilities that will leave the lucky recipient speechless, and delirious with joy. Obviously, you know about our extensive selection of awesome tees from movies, television programs and bands. But did you know we also operate a pair of sister sites, bunnyslippers.com and usefulthings.com, respectively?
The former, as you might imagine, features all manner of soft, plush accoutrements for your tired toesies. Rabbits, penguins, turtles, dogs, cats, polar bears… uh, well you get the picture. See the entire line-up right here!
The latter is our newest webstore (open a little more than one year now…), and it offers a number of nifty, time and space-saving items/gadgets/tools for the office, kitchen and home. Travelers Road warriors might also take note, as we have a menu of products geared directly at them. Like this cool Point-It Book, for example. You’ll never go hungry in a foreign country again.
Even better, most of the items (on both sites) are $30 or less. You won’t break the bank, but you will spread the cheer.
In any case, I’d urge you to shop NOW for best selection. Some quantities are limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone (until next year…). Also, please note that all domestic orders placed by 11:59 (Pacific Standard) on Friday, December 18th are guaranteed to arrive in time for the Big Day. Likewise, we guarantee all international orders placed by the 4th (that’s Thursday, yo!).
A stone cold classic to put ‘cha in the right mood:
