Newest Watchmen Trailer Is Boss

OMG!!! March 6, 2009 can’t come fast enough…

To the delight of comic book geeks everywhere, the newest Watchmen trailer was unveiled this month at the Spike TV Scream Awards. Though some of the footage overlaps with the first trailer that was attached earlier this summer to The Dark Knight, there are some new, previously unseen money shots that will draw in both longtime diehards and new fans alike.

For those that don’t know, Watchmen promises to be the sci-fi/comic book/action movie event of next year. Based on the legendary graphic novel of the same name, the film is being directed by Zack Zynder, who is best known as the visionary responsible for well-received eye candy like 2006’s 300 and prior to that, the 2004 remake of the Dawn of the Dead.

Anticipation for this project is so great that a recent advance screening — believed to be the unofficial world premiere — right here in Portland, Oregon (FIC’s base of operations) attracted desperate hoards of nerdy fan boys from near and far after word leaked out via the Interweb.

On a side note, yes, that is the Smashing Pumpkins providing the soundtrack. The song, for those that are curious, is a rare b-side titled “The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning.”

FOLLOW-UP: It appears that we have a dead link. Click here for an even newer trailer, sans Pumpkins (but replaced by an awesome track, “Take a Bow,” from U.K. rockers Muse).
