Choice Rock Tees From The Wardrobe Of Dantronix
Monday, December 29th, 2008My friend Daniel Woods (a.k.a. Dantronix) is a Portland-based DJ, archivist, videographer and aspiring filmmaker. Obsessed with all things music, he’s a compulsive networker-cum-collector-type with the knack for plucking gems from the accumulated detritus of mass culture.
Aside from an impressive library of vinyl LPs and DVDs, Woods has also compiled a closet full of vintage band t-shirts, some of which date to the late 70’s and early 80’s. You may have even seen some of them yourself in informative books such as this. Old shirts such as these are often highly coveted and known to fetch princely sums on eBay; from whence Dantronix found them, he won’t say exactly…
We’ll just chalk it up to hard work and good luck digging through the bins at dusty thrift stores.
In any case, two of his better tops have been embedded below:
This tour tee was produced circa 1981-2. The design on front, borrowed from the album’s cover, is obviously faded somewhat, but still visible and soft to the touch.

Terminator Salvation Trailer #2
Sunday, December 14th, 2008I’m a sucker for big, sci-fi action movies and the man vs. machine Terminator franchise is, without doubt, one of my personal faves. Naturally, then, I’m pretty stoked for the next, highly-anticipated installment, Terminator Salvation, which is scheduled to drop in 2009. In theory, it will be the first of a three-picture story arc. I’ve embedded the newest trailer to surface on the web below and IMHO, I think it looks rather tits:
Christian Bale’s annoying cookie monster voiceover aside, what do you think of this clip?
More importantly, what do you think of this awesome tee I found online at eBay?

Sugar Kisses
Thursday, December 4th, 2008Apropos of nothing in particular: The New York Times published an interesting article today on the renewed popularity of White Russians (Vodka, Kahlúa, and milk or cream depending on your preference).
Said resurgence, the piece concludes, can be traced mostly to the burgeoning cult status of The Big Lebowski, a film that has enjoyed a series of revivals around the country in recent years. For those that haven’t had the pleasure of watching it, the movie chronicles the accidental tourist-like mishaps of The Dude — “played with slouchy brio by Jeff Bridges” — whose lifestyle entails sleeping in, avoiding work, smoking dope and bowling. His beverage of choice: White Russians, natch.
In any case, the Times ran this photo of a fan dressed as The Dude at a recent screening in New York City.
